Last night Lin continued his incredible streak, hitting a buzzer-beating three-pointer to lead the Knicks to 90-87 victory over the Raptors in Toronto. While Lin’s heroics during the team’s six game winning streak have captured most of the headlines, the bigger picture for teams, athletes and yes, even journalists, is the impact social media can have on all three of these “content platforms.”
The Raptors sold out the Air Canada Centre last night, something the team usually doesn’t do and couldn’t even accomplish when Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers played there on Sunday. That has a positive impact on the value of the Raptors, a fact not lost on the Golden State Warriors, who lost an estimated $10 million in potential value by cutting Lin in December.
